PikeRide Ebikes Provide Solution for Unmet Transportation Needs
1,878 miles traveled in first three months
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Jan. 31, 2024 – PikeRide, the non-profit electric bikeshare program in Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs, celebrates the success of its ebike leasing program for low-income residents, PikeRide+ (pronounced “PikeRide plus”), in Q4 of 2023 while highlighting its positive impact in the community and inviting individuals to seize the ongoing opportunity to apply and lease their own ebike for the low cost of $25 a month.
PikeRide+ provides neighbors struggling to meet rising costs of transportation with a reliable and affordable alternative to access necessary appointments, jobs, errands, and more. The PikeRide+ program launched in October 2023 and 16 participants rode 1,878 miles in 865 trips through December 2023, highlighting the effectiveness of providing community members with a low-cost mode of personalized transportation.
“We have heard from many community members of the need for low-cost, personalized transportation and we are excited to have received program funding from the Colorado Energy Office to support neighbors in the community with an ebike leasing program,” Tara McCarthy, Executive Director.

I really appreciate all you guys have done for me...You have no idea how much this bike has benefitted me and I can't thank you enough...” stated one PikeRide+ participant.
The PikeRide+ program promotes health, inclusive access to transportation, and sustainability - saving an estimated 795lbs of CO2, the equivalent to greenhouse gas emissions from 924 miles driven by an average gasoline-powered passenger vehicle.
PikeRide looks to expand the positive impact on the local community by inviting neighbors earning less than 80% of the area median income and living in disproportionately impacted areas to apply to the PikeRide+ program by visiting PikeRide.org. Qualified community members can receive an ebike of their own to lease on a monthly basis at $25 per month until there is no longer need for the program.
