Nonprofit eBike Leasing Program Broadens Community Impact
PikeRide+ Doubles in Program Participants in Q1 of 2024
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. May 13, 2024 – In the first three months of 2024, PikeRide+ assisted 32 participants, doubling the number of participants compared to the last quarter of 2023. These participants collectively rode 1,548 miles during the coldest months of the year and collectively saved an estimated 655 pounds of CO2.
PikeRide+ (pronounced PikeRide Plus), the transportation equity program launched by nonprofit organization PikeRide Electric Bike Share with support from the Colorado Energy Office in October 2023, has expanded its impact in the Colorado Springs area over the last quarter and is continuing to accept new applicants. PikeRide+ provides low-income residents with their own leased ebike for $25 a month.
PikeRide+ provides Colorado Springs neighbors with an affordable mobility option to reduce transportation costs and free up funds for essentials, as well as a healthy way of moving through the community. Expanding into seven different ZIP codes within Colorado Springs, the program continues to make strides in closing the accessibility gap.

Quarter 1 saw several participants returning their PikeRide+ bikes after receiving vouchers from the State’s Rebate Program. This is a significant milestone as participants transition into personal ownership of sustainable ebike transportation while enabling PikeRide+ to reallocate returned ebikes to new participants.
PikeRide looks to further expand community access to equitable transportation by inviting neighbors earning less than 80% of the area median income and living in disproportionately impacted areas to apply to the PikeRide+ program by visiting PikeRide.org.
